Everybody loves zombies. “The Walking Dead” has the ratings that prove that. But does anyone know how the setting of The Walking Dead got that way? Well now we will because of a new spinoff set to start in 2015 called, “Fear of the Walking Dead”. Set in LA, this show tells the story of what it was like right after the outbreak when most didn't know zombies were real.
Picked up for at least two seasons by AMC, Fear will tell the story of how people come together to figure it all out as they realize the zombies are beginning to take over. Unlike its predecessor that starts in Atlanta, Georgia and ends up in Alexandria, Virginia, this prequel will show a much more populated geographical area with the possibility of cameos from all kinds of stars either just passing by them or as zombies.
While Fear of the Walking Dead isn't based on the comics created by Robert Kirkman, it is based on the same timeline, they plan to have Fear catch up to the timeline of The Walking Dead. The first person cast for the show was
Cliff Curtis (Javier Acosta from Gang Related) to play a divorced teacher named Travis. Afterward, Kim Dickens (Detective Rhonda Boney from Gone Girl) was picked up to play a high school guidance counselor named Madison. Frank Dillane (Tom Riddle from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) comes in as Madison's son, Nick who has issues with drugs. Alicia Debnam-Carey (Lexa on The 100) is cast to play Nick's sister Alicia who wants nothing more than to be out on her own. Elizabeth Rodriguez (Paz from Power) is cast as Liza but little is known of her character. And I'm sure many more will be added to the series as it comes to fruition.
