A man only known has Seth received a reply from Bethesda Game Studios about his request to pre-order Fallout 4 using his life savings of bottle caps (4.5 years worth of collecting caps).
His reason for sending his life savings of bottle caps is because he wasn't sure of the conversion rate of pre-war money to caps, so he just sent everything he had into the studios. Well, his bold move payed off when Bethesda's Global Community Leader, Matt Gradnstaff, accepted the beer soaked bottle caps as a payment to pre-order the game.
After making the post showing off his life savings and the letter he wrote to accompany the shipment, Seth had this to say about his proposal to Bethesda, ‘I’m hoping if this post gets popular enough their PR department will be too nervous to turn me down,” and he was right.
However if you plan on pulling the same stunt, it might not work in your favor. The only reason that the company accepted his payment was that Seth was the first person to do something like this. Seth goes on to say, “Fallout 3 was my favorite game for several years, so I made the rational choice to start saving up bottle caps, Turns out 4.5 years of undergrad and 3 years in a Master’s program leads to a lot of drinking.”
He sent all these bottle caps along with a note that says that he's been a big fan of the series, and that he was incredibly excited when he heard the news of Fallout 4 coming to consoles later this year. There's no question this was a bold move, and I'm glad that Bethesda accepted his payment. Chances are pretty good that they've already met their revenue goals in pre-orders alone. Not to mention their app they created “Fallout Shelter” recently passing up Candy Crush in the iTunes store, so Bethesda shouldn't be hurting too bad to accept caps as payment.
