Time To Talk Lambos
Who doesn’t like a good Lamborghini? and with so many auto makers jumping on the hybrid band wagon, Lamborghini needed to show its own flare on the gas engine and battery system marriage. Ferrari already has its production hybrid car called the La Ferrari ( yes it translates to "the Ferrari the Ferrari"), and Porsche has its 918
hybrid. Both cars obviously use a combination of engine and electric motor to produce around 900 hp. Yea 900 hp in a production car. The technology has even moved to formula 1. Basically the cars have smaller turbo charged engines combined with huge electric motors that are driven by a battery system that harvests energy from the gas engine, but also the kinetic energy from the car breaking. Yes the energy lost from hard breaking can now be harvested and stored later be used to " boost " the engine and create more hp. Ok back to Lamborghini. To answer this hybrid call, Lambo has created a one off " hypercar" called the Asterion. While this thing may not go into production, it definitely shows Lamborghini flexing its muscles. In short, the Asterion has a 5.2 liter V10 (5,204 cc) coupled with three electric motors and a 7 speed transmission (gearbox). The engine produces 602 hp and the electric motors produce 296 hp, you do the math. The result is a 900 hp car that can go from 0 - 62mph in 3 seconds and will go all the way up to 199 mph. And let's not forget the fuel efficiency from hybrid vehicles. Lamborghini claims that the Asterion gets 75 mpg on a calm drive ( lol). Now let's not forget that this is Lamborghini first attempt at a hybrid car, and who knows what's to come
From this super car company.
This hybrid technology is being looked into by almost every auto manufacturer on the market today and will most definitely be the trend in the future. We've come a long way from the Prius, and the future for hybrid cars looks electrifying.
