By today's standards you want to a make a motion picture blockbuster hit, you have to premier it around the world, more specifically in China. Recently Jurassic World landed a cool $100 million dollars during it's launch last weekend in Chinese theaters alone. However this wasn't the case for Chinese movie goers when Star Wars hit the big screen for the first time in 1977. Now four decades later A New Hope finally made it's premiere for the first time in Shanghai.
However during the time that America was showing off the visual effects showcase known as Star Wars A New Hope for the first time. China had just came out dark epoch of a Cultural Revolution, and was transitioning from a Communistic regime and had yet to launch any kind of economical reform, and missed out on the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leah.
Even though Star Wars sits as the cornerstone of pop culture for the west, spectators at the Shanghai International Film Festival (Who are more familiar with the newer films) screened all six films during the festival (Let's hope the started the right way and showed episodes IV,V, and VI before I,II, and III) but most weren't as impressed as Americans were in the late 70's. One blogger even went as far as to state that the main actress wasn't beautiful, the leading actor was not good-looking enough, and the character designs over all being weak, and the action sequences similar to fighting children.
Which only establishes that those people (Who you callin' those people?) are never impressed with anything. The screening was done to prepare the Eastern audience and build a stronger fan base before the premiere of The Force Awakens coming out late 2015.
