When You Wish Upon A Death Star
Imagine blazing through space in an enclosed X-wing themed roller coaster, walking through large Death Star as you sitdown to watch the fire power of the fully functional space station, or sit back in a Star Wars themed cantina while the kids run around a Sarlacc bounce house. Whatever your vacation ideas were they just got a whole lot better as Disney announced a brand new theme park based around our favorite franchise Star Wars!
George Lucas, You know him, love him, and worship his creations. Mainly Star Wars (Shout out Indiana Jones). What you also may know about the franchise is that good ol' George sold it for a whopping four billion dollars. That's a lot of cold hard cash for anyone to lay down for anything. That being said Disney is going to want to make that money back, and their plans to do it are pretty awesome.
Bob Iger, you heard of him? Yeah, me neither, but apparently he's Disney's H.H. (that's head hancho for those of you keeping up) now that Walt Disney smoked himself into an early grave, or was encased in carbonate somewhere in the Magic Kingdom's underground tunnel city. Recently gave an announcement that has everyone's inner child jumping for joy.
Why am I name dropping Bob Iger you ask? Well that's because he took to Wall Street and informed their analysts that there are designs and development taking place to increase the Star Wars presence in the Disney theme parks around the globe. He also said they're ambitious and it's going to take some time for these attractions to be built and opened.
With specific plans coming a little later this year we can expect significant plans for the franchise. Now before you start thinking that it's going to be a theme park based on classics like the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, you'd be dead wrong (I got a bad feeling about this). The theme park is going to be largely based on the new films in the series. Bummer, I know, but this has a lot of great potential when it comes to the spinoffs currently in pre-production. Not to mention you'll still be able to take a trip down memory lane and visit the upgraded Star Tours attraction.
However this is all speculation for now, and we won't get a better idea of the new theme park until later this year. I only hope that they plan to place the new theme park near the Magic Kingdom, so I don't have to travel across the country to see the new Star Wars theme park.
