I was devastated when I heard the news that Jurassic World was coming to theaters, and I was haunted by the idea of Hollywood butchering another timeless classic like it has so many others. Too many senseless movies have been made for money who just target a specific audience of people who remain steadfast and loyal to series. The most notable theft of money from my pockets was the Indiana Jones reboot. If ever there was a bigger piece of garbage put in to production. I haven't heard about it, nor would I want to. Did you see what they did to Indy? It was down right disgusting and both Lucas and Spielberg should be ashamed of themselves.
Neither here nor there.
Now, I won't lie to you. I bought my ticket with quite a bit of hesitation, but Jurassic World was released two days after my birthday and I decided to make it my goal to see the movie like I did the originals in the 90's. Had it not been for tradition and my love for the Jurassic Classics I would have never had stepped foot in the theater, and pirated the movie like a red blooded American instead.
I'm glad I went.
This movie wasn't the cheap gimmicky dumpster fire I believed it was going to be, and it was executed in a way that payed homage to the classic films and satisfied a whole new audience. Even being so bold as to put in their dialogue that people aren't interested in the dinosaurs of old, and Jurassic World needs something bigger, better, with more teeth. Something that wouldn't just scare the kids, but give the parents nightmares too.
However I firmly believe that the reason this film was so successful was because of one man, Chris Pratt (We have the same first name). A man who took my inner child by the hand and said, “I know this whole reboot thing sucks, but don't worry man I got you. We'll get through this thing together”. I felt safe knowing that this hero was at the helm of this film, and by the time I started driving home I was looking for my raptor squad to escort me to my destination.
I was five years old all over again after the credits started rolling (obviously)
So, if you've been hesitant like I was and you weren't quite sure what to expect. This is your sign to go see it. I loved every second of this adventure and would suggest Jurassic World to any fan of the Jurassic series.
